Kudos to all of the PCT volunteers and directors who worked their tails off for this much deserved victory. And the DFG for their understanding and awareness to deliver such a ordinance. This is a great day guys... you should all be proud.

Cheers!

This is something that I never really thought would ever happen. Some of you old school Putah guys can probably remember and agree that this has been a goal and a wish for more years than I'd like to admit ( for me its been about 25 plus years). And this would have never happened without a whole lot of help; support; and hard work especially from the board members. Thanks again gentlemen and women job well done! Greg

A HUGE Thanks to everyone who sent in letters of support! I don't know if the Fish and Game Commission has ever seen a campaign like that before.  A few other thanks are in order: To Bono and Keith for starting and keeping this forum going--it has been the source of strength behind PCT.  To Bono and Ken Davis for getting together with me to get PCT off the ground early 2007. JT, Howard, Otter and Gordon were right there too. And to the guys who have stepped up to be on the current Board of PCT--JL, Emerger, Oneweight,  Lahontan, Otter (still hanging in there).  And a special thanks to SK60. Steve has done a lot of the heavy lifting on this issue.  I have largely handed off the ball to Steve and he is running with it like a madman.  He has already taken PCT to the next level.

The regs change is just the start.  We will be meeting with DFG Wild Trout, Solano County Water Agency and area scientists right after the new year to see what we can do to make the fishery better.  I hope all of you will consider joining or supporting PCT!  The best is yet to come!

Cheers,

Garrick Chang

Now does the reg change effect lake solano, or is it just from 5 to the dam? Just curious..

I believe the regs affect the creek from Monticello Dam downstream to Lake Solano (but not including the lake).

Just outstanding! A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped make this a reality. Putah Creek has become a special place to me over the last few years,as I'm sure it is to many of you, and this is such a great win, for fish and fisherman(unless you're a bait-dunker,hee hee). You should be proud of this accomplishment.

An attempt to clarify inclusion/exclusion of Lake Solano: the new reg says from Monticello Dam to Lake Solano. DFG interprets that to mean including Lake Solano.

I assumed the new regs. ment from monticello dam to the the lake solano diversion dam. Does anyone remember about 20 years ago there were signs that said flyfishing only from november to april ? I'm pretty sure I remember that and it was in effect down to solano diversion dam.

The current regs say from Monticello Dam to Lake Solano.  A DFG Biologist said that it did not include Lake Solano.

Senior administrative staff of DFG involved in the regulation adoption process have interpreted it to mean Solano Lake is included in the change. To clarify/change the current wording "from Monticello Dam to Lake Solano" to unambiguously excude LS would require an effort equal to the one just completed for C/R with no guarantee of success.  LS is directly connected to PC and different regs for the Lake will impact the Wild Trout designation evaluation if the Lake provides replacement fish for the Creek. It is unlikely that LS or the Creek will be planted during the WT evaluation. For a number of reasons (including possible native trout present and anadromous fish below the diversion dam) both reaches may never be planted again.
