Well alastair called me up a few days back and said brian lets go fishing, and who am i to say no. Wanted to take him to the Middle fork american, and was going to until the night before, when i found out that the flows have been changing again for rafting. last time i fished it, it was at 250 for over a month. oh well. so i called him and he said it was up to me where we fished. knowing he has never brownie hunted or ever landed a brownie i knew where i would take him, and i would make sure that he had his best day ever. 5 am came way to soon weds morning, but on the road with a big fat breakfast burrito, to a well not going to name it river. start fishing at 8am walked up stream to look at a few spots as well as get the line wet. alastair couldnt believe his eyes with the size of the fish he was seeing. 30 mins later moved down about 50 yds, showed him the spot to stand and the seam to hit, and first cast fish on, nice brownie to boot. what was funny is the fish took his fly i said set, he just gave me a look, saw a swirl from the fish i said set again and he just gave me a look like i was crazy, after i said set for the third time which i shouted he got the hint and his first brownie was on. after kissing the fish and lettin it go, told him there was another fish on the far seam, hit it, he did and first cast a nice 13" brownie. a few cast went by and told him to move down to the next lil run, showed him where to cast to and again first cast fish on this time a nice 17" bow. so within 45 mins he hooked 4 landed 3, 2 of which where browns. he was having a blast, with it snowing and him catching brownies, dont think there is anything better. so i figured id give it a go. dont know what it was but i couldnt get a darn thing on my line but weeds. oh well. i fished for a long time maybe 2 hours without a single take, then after moving around a bit, i finally got my chance and i took it to um. after that i think we hooked a few more fish landed a few more fish, and called it a day.Â
