Fishing the Yuba next Thursday
Permalink

What's up fellas! I'm just trying to get through my last day at work for the week and get ready for Thursday's session on the lower Yuba. I plan the standard nymphing (caddis pupa, micro may, stone fly, maybe eggs but judging from One Weights post, that doesn't sound very promising. Does anyone have any suggestions who've been there recently? It's been such a long time since I've been able to get up there and start fishing again. I'll probably just be exstatic just to be on the water.

Thanks

Try eggs and keep changing the color and size until you figure out which ones the fish are honning in on.  A good rule of thumb is to start off with brighter colored eggs early and use duller colors as the day progresses.

Fished it monday.Fish are still on the egg, but it will be pretty hard to  find  those fish on any redds. Most of the fish I caught on the egg were in the faster riffles and tail outs.Fish in the flats are eating small #18 PT's and BWO.

We spent a bit too much time pounding the few fish still on the redds.  They're still taking eggs for sure.  All the fish we hooked up with, and saw others land, were on eggs.  Move around and experiment, like these guys said is the key.
