My brother and I made a quick overnight trip to Davis Lake near Portola. We fish 3 hours on Wed and 4 hours on Thur. Wed I caught 8 fish and Thur I caught 16. Most of the fish were in the 12 to 13 inch category with a couple of fish in the 15-17 inch range. The hot fly was a Blood Midge, followed by a Sheep Creek Special. One of the other anglers was catching fish on a cinnamon woolly bugger. As many fish as I caught, I missed many, many more fish. I was indicator fishing. The indicator would go down, I would set the hook, and nothing! This happened over and over thoughout the day. I also lost many fish after the initial hookup. I can't ever remember a day when I missed so many fish. In any case, there was lots of action.
