Any tips for the Truckee this time of year?

I'll be fishing the Truckee and N Yuba this weekend.  Any body have tips for the Truckee?  I already know to dress warm.  I figured that out on my own biggrin

Big Streamers!!! A lot of browns are in pre-spawn mode. They are hungry. Throw something big and ugly.

If it's really cold, I'd err towards smaller dries and nymphs. Try some different BWO and midge patterns.

Have a good time.

Thanks AB.  I'll get me some nasty streamers.

Ty,
You may want to consider using a sink tip line if you are going to use streamers. That way it helps get the fly down into some of the holes.

Your other option is to use a sinking leader if you have a floating line. Get one that is around 7 feet long that drops around 3-4 inches per second. Rio and Airflo make these types of leaders. Tie about 3-4 feet of tippet to it.

Thanks again.  This may turn into an expensive trip!
