Egg Hatch?

The egg bite is on.  I was blindfolded and sworn to secrecy, but there are a few steelies and trout behind the salmon this time of year.  I am not sure where I was fishing, but I saw quite a few salmon.  The only fish I landed was on a small stonefly.

You were probably at the Yuba.

The Yuba I don't think so.  The younger guys like you might fish there, but there is much better fishing than the Yuba and the American.

Come on C, don't you remember the 3 hour drive while blindfolded and the smell of raw sewage wafting on the wind and the golf course across the water?

Truckee area and Salmon??? I don't think so. The smell of raw sewage... It's either the Feather or Lower Sac. Probably the Lower Sac.

It's the Lower Sac for sure!

The fishing can be unreal in October. I like to fish behind Turtle Bay near the sundial Bridge.

Is there any good access for wading?

There is really good wading at Turtle Bay when the flows are around 5000 CFS.  There can be a crowd, be prepared for drift boat logjam.

Also, I have it on good authority that Otter was fishing on Laguanitas Creek, right in his backyard when he sighted all of those steelies and brownies.

wow born to secrecy like i havent heard that one before

u know those old timers never give away there secrets or any info for that matter, lol. i guess from now on if i post about a place and an older timer asks. IM NOT GONNA TELL. i see how it is, now its not bait guys vs fly guys. its OLD TIMERS VS NEW TIMERS. wow whats this world coming too.

see what the issue is some of us newer crowds only know about the yuba feather american, lower sac, and maybe the trinity if we have gotten lucky. maybe the old timers should get with the new timers so we can both trade of on our knowledge. lol.

just my 2 cents that means nothing, just crazy jiberish. and joking at that.

The report that I got was the lower Sac, above the Sundial bridge. This time of the year in a wilderness area like that , you have to watch out for the bears in the river.

Do eggs hatch? Lagunitas Creek? Hmm Where is that? Samuel P Taylor. I don't think you can fish there. Old guys young guys? What if you are middle aged? You guys go off on some tangents.

The thread was really just a joke, glad you had some fun.

If you really want some good info, the eggs are light green this time of year.

lol, good one otter

funny u say green, cuz peeps r wacking big trout and steelies on green caddis, well eggs too, but green caddis on the lower sac.
but ya anyways, enough of all that, ill stick to what i know best as of this yr. big fatty ars brownies on a 3wt, i had a big taste of them last yr this time of yr, and had a beast of a taste in aug with that monster, and just recently with a crap load over 20"s. cant get enough of wacking big o brownies over 20"s on a 3wt, some that might just need a 5wt, but still managing them on a 3wt. when i die i want to go to Brownie heaven.

hey otter if u ever wanna meet up again and this time actually go fishing, instead if just chattin, just hit me up. i am not 30 yet some i am still a young guy, hope thats ok. lol

taking Alastair to yuba tomorrow to get on the egg hatch. i hope. should be some good times. guess he has only fished it once when u guys had the pct meeting up at the uc davis site. gonna start at the 20 bridge and work our way down, then hit up sycamore in the evening. maybe ill have a post about an epic egg hatch for you guys. lol

keep those lines tight and the fish big

Katie wants to go fishing with you guys, where should she meet you?

I am going to pass on fishing tomorrow.  It's off to the President's Cup at Harding Park tomorrow to see Team USA shoot lights out.  Saturday is our college fraternity homecoming game tailgate party.  I have a feeling that slurping vino until 3:30 AM with Emerger and Otter was just a warm up for this event.

I had an opportunity to pull out the Bombay Saphire bottle that Dr. Bombay made infamous in June, while we had our PCT Board retreat up there last weekend.  The rest of the bottle was lonely and looking for Shawn.  The carpet was still matted where he did his Superman dive as well.

Guys, isn't this a fly fishing forum?  Not a golf forum?  lol.  I'll be at the Presidents cup sunday.
This is one of the more confusing threads in a while.  Somebody said green eggs?  Do they start changing as the spawn progresses?

Ty, they don't turn green, but they do change colors the longer they're in the water.

Dr. Bombay actually left something in that bottle?

I think Otter was talking about the green eggs with ham that he had in Truckee last weekend. By the way, the fishing was poor because of 50 mile an hour winds in the canyon, then it started snowing. I went to a parachute hopper just so I could see my fly on the waves. Otter denies it, but he found a small hole inside the turbine outlet of a small riverside power house and caught two fish (in a barrel!). Too bad the water was turned off.

Man I slept through breakfast. I don't know how some people can go to sleep at 3 and wake up at 7.... I would have grubbed on some green eggs and ham I am. The only thing I had was the bagels you brought.

I was really happy to land a fish in that turbine barrel. I was nearly blown into the water on several occasions due to the wind gusts. I think I need to drink more beer for ballast. Emerger took a quick dunk and was blown dry in a few minutes.

Good times on the Truckee and Yuba!! A big thanks to Bob!!!
