Twinkie Fly

Was on the water yesterday and watched a guy guy hook up with about 4 or 5 fish in 15 minutes. I was watching intently and trying to learn with my eyes. Anyway he told me that he was getting them all on a "Twinkie" like I should have known what that was. I was on the other side of the stream and could have a look. So if you were that guy...or anyone that knows  what the hell is a "Twinkie" ....  I can't find it anywhere on the internet!!!!

He might of actually meant a "Twinkie," like a small piece of one?

Sounds to me like he didn't want to give away his secret.

I haven't fished the creek since the cleanup, but it could have been this fly.

It is a twinkle midge, available at the fly depot.  Lots of small midges out there now.

The body is a little fat.  If you can tie, the body should just be thread or a small amount of antron dub.

Nice one thanks Chris. Not sure if I can handle that one yet but will give it a bash some time.

Cheers

Alastair,

Are you and Dr. B competing for the smallest trout ever taken by fly rod, reel and photograph? It looked like Dr. B won with his last avatar. But, I'm not so sure now???

I saw Bob's (unless he's had smaller since the NF of the Yuba) - it was damn tiny. Sardine tiny.
