Saturday was hot, and the creek was looking good. We did manage to catch a few small fish on mayfly patterns, but nothing bigger than 12". I did see one guy hook into a large fish above the bridge, but it threw the hook. Apparently he had landed a fish over 20" earlier in the day.
I tend to fish effectively in high flows, so I'm not sure why the fishing has been so tough this summer. Last summer, I was consistently having 15-fish days, and few of these fish pushed the 20" mark or bigger. Have others been struggling lately? If so, any ideas why? If not, what's your secret?
