.....to thank Steve (and his wife), Cole, James and Greg and everyone else who helped put together the great fund raiser. Really enjoyed myself. Cole you deserved that fish!
Yes I would have to give a really BIG thanks to every one involvedto make this a great success. The food was the bomb, probably some of the best pulled pork I've ever had thanks to Cliff (emerger) and the "other" Cliff for starting the slow cook process at 2:30 am and staying with it untill perfection was attained! The prizes were abundant and the silent auction were some great bargains. I managed to take home a amazing black and white custom framed and matted print of a flyfisherman on the McCloud River, big thanks to Marcel (flyfishing junkie) nice to finally meet you Marcel you really do some nice work. This was a really fun time at a really nice winery , my wife and our 4 guests loved the wine (we brought a bottle home). Again thanks to everyone who donated some of the nice gifts, thanks to the people who volunteered their time to put this together and a special thanks go out to Steve Karr (SK60) and his wife for taking charge of this entire project and Cole Davis for allowing us to do this at his families winery. I really hope we can pull this off again next year. By the way Jerry (JL) opened his wallet ,bid on and won the guided trip by myself on Putah...........? I dont get it............ this guy fishes the creek more than I do these days and I'm pretty confident Im the one who will learn something!!! What the hell was he thinking, maybe it was the wine interfering with common sense. Anyhow I'm looking forward to hooking up with you (literally) and the $$$ goes to a great cause! Bono
The greatest thanks must go to Cole, his Dad and Mom, Winona and Cole's younger brother Cooper, the two Cliffs, Scorso and Cassin, for the food, James Haan and all the other donors who made the raffles and the silent auctions possible and to the 50+ attendees who made the event a success. I think it was good kharma that Cole won the carving and it was well deserved for the key role he played in putting the event together.
A special thanks goes to my wife Jean who took charge of the sign in table and distributed all the bidding cards, drink tickets, name tags, and provided needed focus and advice during final set up, all with her right hand immobilized in a post-surgery splint.
Iam pissed I had to miss it...I wanted to go so bad, I toyed around with the Idea of shutting my shop down for the entire day....JL .money well spent to have Bono stop down all the poison oak heading in to your favorite fishing spot...
What a great day at the fund raiser, seeing people that I knew and meeting new ones. Here are a few photos  and congrats to Cole for winning the fish.
This was a lot of fun. It was a great event to build upon as well. I hope I won some of the stuff I bid on, has that all been figured out? Steve, I brought all of the paperwork that needed my signatures and then left it in my back pocket all afternoon. I guess I can mail it to you. I would have enjoyed staying all afternoon, but seeing Randy Johnson pitch a great game against the A's was worth it as well. Thanks everyone and yes the pork was great . . . I had 3 plates of it. I loved that CHARDONNAY Cole, I've got some bottles to bring up to Tahoe this week so that I can sip while telling evening fish stories.
I can see that SK60 caught me congratulating Alistair for smallest fish last weekend in picture #1!

And by the way . . . Cole if you notice a few of those casks damaged, I kept trying to tap into a few of those for some private stash and was unsuccessful.
That is great that Cole won the carving!! He and his family put in a ton of work and wine to make this happen. It could not have gone to a better guy and family. Thanks Cliff, Cliff, Steve and Jean the food was great and the auction items were great. I can't wait to get that Scott rod on the water. Thanks to Marmot for donating the jackets. Thanks to Fish First, Western and Sweeneys good stuff. Thanks to Alistair and the other wineries for donating wine. If I were a wino I would have bid on some. Thanks to Ed Novinsky for the nice Kanektok Rainbow Litho that is on my wall. Thanks to Marcel for the McCloud photo. Thanks to all the guides who donated their services especially Greg Bonovich. Oh shoot a big big thanks to James Haan for donating that beautiful fish carving. I wish I had won it, but you know that Cole really deserves it.
First of all I want to thank everyone who donated so much of their precious time to put this thing on. Time we could have been out fishing instead but we had our noses down trying to put this on. In my mind it was a huge success and again thanks to anyone and everyone involved. Sorry about the traffic coming up here. Great to meet some of the other board members. The bottom line is nobody is going to fix Putah's problems but us. We are the ones who will make the difference in the end. Next time I will run a siphon hose for you Bob, and for a small fee I may even show you how to rig a raffle!
Thanks for hosting the event Cole! It was a great place to hold the fundraiser. Special thanks to Steve for organizing it all. And muchas gracias to everyone who donated items to the event, we couldn't have done it without you.
Big echos of everyone's big thanks to everyone. Â Steve - outstanding job pulling things together (again), and cole, your family was great. Â Can't wait to hit the water with you some time soon.
Bono - MX is right, I just wanted you to knock down poison oak, tie on my flies, and scout for rattlers. Â Oh, and carry me across the creek on your back at high flows. Â Hee hee. Â In all seriousness, it will be my honor to have you as my guide, though we're doing a whole day and i'm brining the beers and food. Â You can give me pointers and we'll fish our tails off.
Cliff - great artwork and that pork was absolutely the bomb. You and your buddy nailed it.
Yeah thanks to everyone involved in putting it together. I had a great time and it was good meeting some more of you guys.
Cheers,
Alastair
PS. JL, I never got to get those casting tips but I will definatley hit you up for them when I see you on the creek.
