Leland Fly Fishing Ranch in Sonoma is Now Open!

Check out the new Leland Fly Fishing Ranch located in the Sonoma Valley. There are casting ponds with "steelhead" strain trout, a 8-acre bass pond, over seventy demo rods to try, a complete pro fly shop and casting instructional programs featuring some the industry's best instructors. Yep, in the wine country of Sonoma! Go figure?

Here's a video of how it all started:

WE'RE NOW OPEN AT THE SHOP! AND, STARTING TO GREEN UP THE PROPERTY.

I'm watching trout rise to midges, caddis and damsel flies every day. Outstanding...

Tight lines...

Shaun, you know you're welcome anytime.

If anyone is interested in hearing about the opening and or more about the ranch, leave a reply here or simply PM me and I'll try to answer any questions. Heavy construction is winding down, but we're still waiting to "green up" the grounds. The shop is opening very soon, possibly next week. You can actually watch trout rising for midges in the first casting pond from the front door of the shop. Tell me that's not cool!

It's on Arnold right down from Viansa Winery and Cline/Jacuzzi Wineries in Sonoma. No signs yet. Stay tuned for opening dates.

Tight lines, all....

The ranch looks great! Are you guys offering a yearly membership, or is there just a daily fee? I have been waiting to find a good place to go bass fishing close to Marin.

Otter, the trout ponds and creeks are actually for instructional purposes. You know, for teaching new and old anglers what to look for in feeding lanes, prime lies, entomology, feeding patterns and habits of the fish, subsurface substrate and beginning to advanced casting instruction. That's the current idea, that is. The 8-acre bass pond will eventually have access to fish by appointment. Awesome pond too, over twenty years old, so lots of natural structure and teaming with wildlife.

Want to learn Spey casting, two-hand techniques, advanced casting and presentation techniques, clean up your current casting approach, there will be the best of the industry on-hand to instruct you.

As I previously mentioned, we still need to "green up" the grounds, as there has been tons of construction going on as you can imagine over the last 5 years. Lots of area is filling in naturally and it is looking amazing out there. The Shasta region steelhead strain bow's are fat, aggressive and feeding on naturals now (over eight months on the property). Very pretty fish!

You can visit the ranch anytime, even demo some of the most prestigious and well-built rods and reels in the industry on the ponds. A great opportunity to see how a great rod should feel and react in real conditions. We'll have over 50 rods to cast. Eventually, you'll even be able to sample a glass of wine or two from local wineries and local food vendors. Fly legends and personalities will hold seminars and video presentations on scheduled days and evenings at our educational center throughout the year. Who they will be and when, will be forthcoming in the future.

So, lots to do and see at Leland Ranch. Just driving up and stepping out of your car is an experience. As one can tell, I'm pretty excited about the ranch. The shop opening is scheduled for next weekend. Ping me for details and times.

Stay tuned.....

Hey Cody, no, I am opening the new store and property in Sonoma. Are you familiar with the SF store? Wait until you see the new property. Awesome.
