In this day and age its almost unbeilevable that bait is still allowed on putah creek.

The submission has been made to he Fish and Game Commission.� No guarantee�the approval�will happen, however, the more support and work we do, the better chance it has.� We do have some allies and work is being done on several fronts in concert with this submission.

That being said, Putah Creek Trout is having a meeting at Access 1, this Saturday, beginning at 11:00.� One of the hot agenda items is the status of this submission and where we go with it.� Fishing to follow afterwards ( and the Buckhorn is a good bet as well)!� Check it out, the more , the merrier.

I was just thinking of trying putah this weekend. I'll defenitly try to make it, The buckhorn is hard to resist

Ate there a few weeks and the elk steak was freaking amazing !!! This time the 20 oz. ribeye isn't gonna stand a chance.

For other waters in high flows, I like to throw big streamers at the soft water on the sides.� I haven't fished those conditions on Putah, but this technique has worked for me on other waters.

VInce, JL and I did an unofficial creel survey on Saturday at the dam and Access 5. Talked to maybe 15 guys bait/lure�fishing. Most were fishless, two or three had caught fish or seen one or two caught. Bad news: wild mostly�big fish; good news, only�three had been kept, the rest released. Pardesha's had no catches reported to them by late in the day. The three of us had one small fish between us in 6 total hours, so it may be tough out there. A good thing was that we saw quite a few fry mixed in with young stickle backs along the shallow margins in several places; by late summer they will be catchables.

Do you have a float tube, pontoon boat, or kayak?� You can fish the slower reaches.� The drifts are slow and require some patience, but the rewards can be good.� If you float the creek, make sure you�research your put-in and take-out locations BEFORE you begin fishing.� You don't want to end up being a statistic.

WT-a focus of the meeting is to complete plans for our reg change support campaign, which requires volunteers to introduce our reg change submission to a number of groups of potentially interested parties and stakeholders, provide information on how to support (petitions, letters) and then follow up with the contacted group. We will also be looking at volunteer opportunities accross a broad spectrum of conservation, habitat/environment improvements, general public out reach and education (not just us self-interested flyfishers), and other related projects.

As a recent volunteer said..."Putah is a gem slowly being turned back into an ordinary rock and I would like to do my part to reverse this trend". Its going to take an integrated effort on many fronts to make it happen. We need help to get it done.

Saturday May 2 at Access #1 at 11 am. All interested parties are welcome to join us.�

Ya definitely a float tube from what I seen. All the good water is unwaddable and the ater that is shallow enough is really swift. i think sinking tipswould be good. Oh and i heard a kid at the resort caught a trout going 5 pounds and kept it. We definitely need to preserve this place.
