Hello, newbie here. Was thinking about heading up to Putah this holiday weekend. Have lived in the bay area a couple of years now and have heard many stories, and figuring I would be up with my in-laws in the Davis area this weekend, I thought I would give it a go. Wanted to know if you guys thought it would be packed this weekend and what the flows might look like after the last couple days of rain. I was thinking on heading up Friday afternoon and maybe hit an evening fish and a Saturday morning fish. I would be using my 3WT Orvis with what I would assume a 5 or 6lb tippet..... open to suggestions for flies, lines, equip etc.
The small amount of rain will have no effect on the flows whatsoever,in fact the flows may drop a bit due to a lower demand from the municipalities and farmers. The fishing has been really slow and as aresult there has not been many people up there. 5x to 6x tippet is fine, small flies generally speaking and you will have to just do a little exploring. I'll be there too on easter Sunday with my boys chasing turkeys on the ranch. Enjoy! Bono
