Been a while since I fished the creek. Can't even remember the last time, actually. Been busy with work, family, other hobbies, etc. Got the bug a few weeks ago and offered to take a colleague out and give him a 'guided' trip on Putah. We fished between 3 and the bridge (different spots) and although it was an absolutely beautiful day, and the flows seemed ideal, and the water relatively clear, not a whole lot of action.
Greg at Sweeny's told me that there were some decent hatches of creamy caddis, and some bwo's, but none of those really materialized. I did see some of those bugs flying around, but not in any meaningful numbers
We did manage to hook into one nice fish. A brute, to be sure, but a tired brute. Took a flashy little mayfly pattern... always nice to catch a fish in the realm of the size of the fly you used when that fly is very tiny. Though I didn't tape it, catching a fish like this on a size 22 bug is always fun.

Well, that depends on your definition of blue. If you look closely, you'll see that this blue was more of a navy blue, whereas my typical lucky shirt is more of a royal blue.
