Yuba is pretty muddy, probably 1 foot vis, towards marysville the water is a litter less murky but still pretty off color.  Up top is pretty bad.  Plenty of bugs out and about, but they were spared by the trout today,  just too muddy.  Give it a couple days.

Sounds like you made the same mistake I did.  Sometimes when you really want to fish, you just throw common sense out the window.  I saw Deer Creek over 100 CFS and thought it would come down overnight, or in the morning, and that the Yuba might turn on Sunday.

Unfortunately neither happened.  Losing that hour of sleep with the time change caused me to really have to drag out of bed at 5:00 AM.  There were quite a few guys spread all over the river suprisingly.  I spoke with alot of guys as I worked the river, and did not encounter one person who even had a take or grab.  It was just a little too murky.  I did hear one fish rise in the morning.  I went to some big, sparkly Buggers and then some other streamers, but still nada. It was a really nice day up there however.

Deer creek was around 125 yesterday, and although deer creek is normally the coco puff in the bowl of milk that turns it all brown, for the water to be that murky with deer creek running so low more than likely means its coming out of engelbright a little muddy, which would not be good as that would require even more time to clear up.  Looks like i might just have to hit the stripers up on the feather the next couple days.  However, I'm planning on fishing the lower section of the Yuba tomorrow (yes, silly me, just can't heed my own advice), as i think its a little more clear down that way, I will report back tomorrow.

Onewieght, I was also suprised at the amount of people out there hell bent on sipping some delicous yuhoo!  After we tried nymphing for a while, we, like you, felt the urge to swing some big flies in the murk.  After about 3 minutes of that, we exchanged the rods for a few bottles of beer, and floated our way down river.

haha you guys give up too easily I was there for two hours before sunset and caught three between 12 and 16" right under the bridge in "chocolate milk".  I was surprised to see so many cars there , but I was also even more surprised to see that many people had given up fishing entirely.  I saw one group of guys screwing around throwing rocks into a pool they should have been fishing.  I walked right up to the same pool and hooked a nice one within 10 casts.  P3080175.JPG

didn't give up chuck, just decided to change tactics, drink beer and troll flies out of the back of the boat.  Unfortunately, didn't get any takers, maybe next time i will have to use some flashers wink..haha....tomorrow will be my opportunity to redeem myself.  Glad you got a couple chuck. dries, nymphs, or swinging?

Shoot, me either, I fished 8 hours, including right where you landed those fish!!!  I was there at 8:30 AM and had no luck.  I slammed that area pretty good too.  I felt like getting home before 9:30 PM, as it's a "short" 2 1/2 hour drive home.

You did some great fishing to land multiple fish in that murky mess, and you might be the only one who did!!!!  Way to go.
