Any info on fishing the headwaters of putah?  I drove past the creek near Middletown last week, of course it was flowing big and merky do to the rain.  Just wondering if it were worth exploration, perhaps closer to the lake.

If you take a look at it later in the year say july august its basically a series of puddles, I don't think it can support much fish life.

I've been dying to ask about upper Putah too. Goggle Earth'd it and it looked perfect. But I had to remind myself that, that could be when it is just flowing for whatever reason. But I do know of someone who told me he's caught small guys there, as well as Cache Creek. Small but fish nonetheless. I'm going to see for myself anyways!

I figured it dries up in the summer, but maybe some possible early spring exploration could be fun.  thanks for the info.

I've fished it before. If you go spring to early summer you can do really well on small mouths. When it starts getting into June the water is barely flowing and pretty warm. It can be fun for the bass if you time it right.
