Board etiquette kind of question...

Etiquette is probably the wrong word and I don't want to start any big deal threads with a bunch of controversy....BUT...I post on some other boards and I know others do as well. My question is like the old hotspotting question...

I don't see anyone ever reporting on Putah, the LStan and maybe some other waters that you guys discuss on those other forums. I'm supposing that if I hit the LStan this week I'll report on it here, but not in the FF section of the Sniffer board (for instance)...And I would only report on Putah activity here as well, when I get there...

Having said that...I report on my little home forum in Santa Cruz that is somewhat smaller than this and largely oriented to the surf...AND I'm guessing I could talk about Putah and wherever else on that board and not increase or impact fishing pressures at all...

Has this stuff been discussed and am I on track here? I signed up because I wanted to know about Putah and I hate lurkers...so I don't post a lot although I'm soaking up info until I have something worthwhile to share...

Sorry if this is a bore...-Mike

I have been looking at this post for a few days an none of you offered any help...Iam disappointed ....

If you want to talk about a day on the water on some other site and they have a forum topic for it , then have at it...We have a section about salt water and one about waters other than putah...If you dont want to name the spot you fished then dont.just say it was a small stream in nor cal.You can share your day with out posting the name of the spot you fished....I personally almost never post about my time on the water...If I do it is a quick summary of a few months worth of fishing...I dont think we have a big problem with etiquette in this sport. We all learn fishing etiquette over time...I think egos are the real problem in this sport and most others...
Do what you feel is the right thing to do and have fun....

well, I did get pm's from a couple of guys who were helpful. Obviously many members here know and fish with each other (it's a small stream) and I don't want to get on the wrong side of anyone by making a mistake out of ignorence...-Mike

There are lots of guys on forums that feel like every piece of water is a big secret and will flame you for talking about it. I've gotten it myself for posting about the Little Truckee, hardly a secret piece of water. If you want to post then post, that's my opinion. Why do guys come to a forum anyway if not to find out where fishing is happening?

I can't see it being an issue as every shop in the bay area has a board with conditions and activity on Putah, as well as Yuba, Sac, Truckee, Stanislaus, Pit, etc. Bono offers guide service, Western Sports in San Rafael has a Putah Nyphing clinic, Putah is no secret.....

PS. Stlhdr - Does Soquel Creek hold small guys? In the 4 wt. variety.

biggrin big J...there are small guys, but I'd be worried about those other guys...believe I'd take a 7 wt...it's pretty close quarters in there.

Thanks to all....let's let this die...I'll do what I think is right and I'm sure it'll be ok...
