Hey guys. I am new to the Sacramento area and new to the fly fishing world. I have done my fair share of river fishing in Indiana and New England, but never found time to start fly fishing. I got the chance to fly fish the Provo River in Utah last year with a guide and my father. What an experience for the two of us! I learned enough to be able to cast and catch a few fish. I just outfitted myself with a beginner's pole, some waders, and boots. If you guys see a tall, 30 something guy swearing under his breath or frantically trying to find a foothold in the creek, chances are it will be me! I am trying to get out to the creek Tuesday (tomorrow) and enjoy my first fishing experience in Northern California. I am sure it won't be my last!
Hey Jantz...I'm the previous newbie and I'm gonna try to get there tomorrow too...I'll be in a gray tacoma, extra cab and I think I'll be starting near the bridge...if you see someone else looking really confused...stop by and say hello...if I don't make it, good luck...stick a big one for me. -Mike
It was slow for me, I didn't get a bite, but had a great time. I am finding there is some fantastic scenery in this area. It was good just to get a line in! How does parking work? Do you have to park in one of the pay lots, or can you park on the side of the road at one of the dirt pull-offs? I don't mind paying- just for future reference...
