NOT ON A FLY!

After hooking up a personal record trout in Putah, Pfluger set up took a rest and Penn set up came out to play on 2/8/9.  Now i know that this is a FF forum, i just wanted to share the excitement i had and if there is a way to catch these prehistoric monsters on a fly................DAMN, WHAT A FIGHT that would be.

Sorry boys and girls but this don't get released unless it's under 46" or over 66".  This toad is 51" and it has CEVICHE and FISH TACOS written all over him.

Nice dinosaur. I used to do alot of that type of fishing. Last time I took the old boat out me and my good fishin buddy got these guys, I think the sturg. is 54" and the leopard was 56". Those leopard sharks are underated fighters. As for sturgeon, Pound for pound they don't fight very well. Now is a great time to sturgeon fish in s.f bay because the herring are spawning and the sturgeon gorge on eggs and dead herring.

what a fish flyin! ive had my fair share of sturgeon fishing up in oregon on the willamette river, but i still want to go to canada and hit up the sturgeon capital of the world, the fraser river. I drive by this river every day on the way up to an annual fishing trip in canada and have always heard good things about it.

its nice to see someone is catching some fish around here! keep up the good work!

Right on 888, and the year just started.

Hey Shon, nice diamonds dude, and i agree with the fight on the leopards.  i hooked on to a at least 2 footer and thought it was a sturgeon a long time ago.  i dunno but everytime i hook into one of those diamonds, man my arms are spent for a hot second.  The fellows and like to do the San Pablo Bay or Siusun, but i'm gonna have to mention to them about the S.F. Bay with some dead herring.  Right on for the tips.

The good sturgeon bite at this time of year is around the oakland airport and the alameda rockwall. Dude you should get one of those bigboys on and see it go completely airborne, Some call em the poor mans tarpon.
