Since the dam's discharge is controlled by the Solano County Irrigation District, I don't know if you can predict how the drought will affect the stream flows.  It's possible that the farmers' irrigation needs may be higher, meaning that HIGHER flows are required.  I gave up trying to predict Putah's flows long ago.

PC will probably be better off than some other tailwaters this year. SID is under contract to provide only about 20% of its capacity each year to ag irrigation and I-80 corridor cities-that's much lower percentage than the other major dams like Folsom, Oroville, Shasta. So, its in relatively good shape right now.

The problem is that theres too many people living in california, Theres pretty much always going to be water shortage of some shorts. Theres whole cities built were theres no water, Theres farms planted where farms should not be planted. I do not beleive that my natural resources such as water should be freely there to be used up so some guy can grow an almond orchard in the sac. valley. The one good thing is this, We still have plenty of undamed freestone rivers and streams that have yet to be screwed with. These waters have supported wild trout for a very long time through many of droughts and many a wet years, The trout will survive because thats what they do, They ADAPT, iMPROVISE, And OVERCOME.

yes, the rain is on its way, and with any luck it will bring some more of these in the system.  People, forget the dry flies and hatches until march, you owe it to yourself to chase these, they are out there!

I've been waiting for weeks now for some rain to bring in some steelies in this little canal near my house, Its pretty impressive they have held on for so long, Its the type of place thats littered with shopping carts and matresses, Pretty amazing they still come up there.
