Anyone up for getting a group together and hitting the show one day and maybe grabbing a bite and a beer afterward?

This year it's Feb 27, 28 and March 1

I would be up for that. Last year I planned to make it out there, but had to bail out at the last minute. I really need some new waders, boots, and rod/reel. That would be cool if we get a group together.

The Fly Fishing Show in Pleasanton will run from Feb. 27 to March 1.  It is a fly fishing only convention that is open to the public.  Most of the major players (manufacturers) will be there showcasing their products.  You could demo rods on the indoor casting ponds.  Lodges will be their promoting themselves hoping to get bookings.  Some local shops will be their selling goods.  You might be able to find some deals on closeout buys or discontinued merchandise.

Here is the link for the show.  http://www.flyfishingshow.com/Pleasanton.html

Look for the new Putah Creek Trout Brochure at some of the booths (sorry, I don't know which ones will be displaying them-Bob may know).

I'm going to try and make it Friday as well.  The flyers will definitely be at the Cal Fly Fisher magazine booth.  Richard has allowed us to place some on his table.  I'll place more at local shop booths where they allow us to do so.

Speaking of spending too much money at the Fly Fishing Show reminds me of a great quoite: "My biggest worry is that when I am dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it."

Ya Steve Potter, the guy that spun the deer hair had a pretty good story on how he came up with the hummingbird pattern also. I watched him tie a Dalberg diver from start to finish then he game it to me, i was pretty pumped.Today I am going to be attempting the extended body Mayflies, like the ones tied by Matt Matsu****a,the japanese tyer first tied on a needle, then transfer the tube body to a hook. I made  the tools he used  yesterday so we shall see.But all in all learned a ton from the tyers since what I know is all self taught trial and error.
