Spent a few sweet hours on the creek today. Kinda foggy yet kinda sunny never saw another person. Fishing was pretty good too. Missed a few landed a few, one of which was one to remember an absolute tank with an attitude. 25" with some big ol shoulders.
oh mx i know, its been 3 weeks w/out steel. im itchin but broken bone on casting hand got me disabled, off work right now. gotta sneak up to the creek while wifes at work, she says if i fish i have to work. I dont want to. but soon, soon i will battle more steel. Casting lefty oh yeah its fun...

It's much more important.
Matt, Casting lefty for you is going to improve your game. You will get better with it. You will learn that there will be river right/river left situations that casting right or left will be advantagous. Good job fishing with the broken wing.

Edit: Fly fishing personality, Lefty Kreh is right handed. He started casting left handed because he broke his right arm. His friends jokingly called him "Lefty." The name stuck.
Robbie, kinda wish I had the camera for that one, but no pic its one for my memory bank instead.
Abelboy, I didn't know that about lefty that's funny. Casting lefty is ok when you dont need that extra touch to get the fly in just the right spot. Most of the time its a rather sloppy cast but than again a good cast isn't what catches fish it's the good drift..... Time to sneak out....
RAIN RAIN AND MORE RAIN. thats all we need and all the steelies will push up river. i can wait.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
A few years ago I had sugery on my right (casting ) arm and my docter/surgeon told me to stay away from Putah while the incision was still healing because if I fell in and got it wet there was a decent chance of infection(he was also a flyfisherman).Well the next day I just happened to be at the creek with my flyrod and my waders and I had a lapse of memory(probably from the pain meds) so I fished with my left hand.It was like learning all over again literally,I struggled at first but with a little practice I was able to land a few fish and then much to my docters demise I lost my balance (pain meds?) and took a full header into the creek soft cast and all.Well that ended my day prematurely and a quick trip to Sutter orthopedics to get my cast and dressing removed cleaned and replaced.I told my docter that a rogue tsnami wave hit my neighborhood in Dixon and I somehow made it out alive. To this day I truely think he didnt believe me.
Well the unfortunate part is there is about 3 separate canoe incidents that I've been involved in that were all quite embarrassing...funny but embarrassing!!Maybe I said too much already!!!!!!
