Brian, Shawn and I hit the creek long and hard on Sunday.  It was a tough day.  Brian had a few misses and got a nice one in the fanny, Shawn had a smaller one on and off and I was a big zippo for the day.  I spoke with a number of other guys fishing the river and it was pretty much the same except for one guy who landed a couple nice ones.  As usual for me under these circumstances, I changes rigs, weight and depths I don't know how many times to no avail.

The slow going allowed me to actually pay attention when Brian was explaining how the girlfriend who he lives with is actually now his ex-girlfriend but still living with him??????  I had to draw an isociles triangle to figure that picture out, but it sounds pretty amazing to me.

We were suprised by how few fishing are at the spawning stage right now, only a handful.  As the weather was great for fishing and there were some really nice midge and mayfly hatches, I have to go all the way to page 16 of my Fishing Excuses Handbook to reason yesterday's results out.  Too many fishermen pounding the water over the 3 previous days are what I'm going with.  I mean, it sounds good to me?

After a hard fought day, we retired to the Buckhorn for some cold cervezas and some OUTSTANDING steaks.  I hadn't eaten there in awhile and forgot how great that place is.  Man, what a great meal!!!! Black Cloud joined us for a quick Iced Tea and B.S. session here. This Buckhorn stop is something that will become a more regular event for me and something I highly recomend to all, poor fishing or not.

Defenitly, Poor fishing due to high pressure, I'll go with that one too. Still a great day to be out on the water with some freinds. And a real good steak afterwards, I was still full when i woke up this morning, Next time I'm finishing that 20 oz. ribeye.

that rib eye was hugh. for me that baseball sirlon was top shape for a long day on the water, not to forget the 2 25oz bluemoons with a hit of orange.

definitly a slow day for me as well as the others. i had 7 hook ups all ldr, i did get a good look at a few of them. got to see 3 all in the 18-20" range. the size 24 ..... that i was using just wasnt staying in their lips, guess the barbs make a huge difference on those smaller hooks. oh well. most of my hook ups came for the bridge area with the biggest fish hook up in the general area, it was pushing the 20" mark. gave me a good fight for about a minute until the headshakes came, then it was all over. my other go to hole gave me 3 hook ups with one fish giving me some air shots, that one also about 18"s but the headshakes killed me. guess i need to learn just a tad bit more skill with using the 3wt with size 24 barbless hooks. ill get it down next time i am out.

all in all a lousy day fishing, but an awsome day of bullsh-ttin, and just having a good ol time on and off the creek. wouldnt change that for the world, unless some fish where landed. hahaha

see you all on the water.

I got out there today for a couple hours in the afternoon. Landed one 12 incher and lost one 21 incher that I never saw.

Haha!  Lost one 21"er that you never saw?  You have caught a lot of fish to know their size by feel!

Well, at least I only missed out on a good dinner! Too much going on with the family for the Holiday weekend. We'll have to try again for another outing when the fishing picks up.
