Little Truckee was Good to me!

I did a last minute trip to Tahoe Sunday evening and fished the LT with 2 buddies on Monday. We had the whole river to ourselves all day. Between the 3 of us there were probably 25 fished to hand and many hooked but not landed. The flows are great and the weather was perfect. If anyone is thinking of going I have 2 comments to make; 1. watch where you are wading because the brown trout are spawning and there are redds in a lot of places. 2. Don't fish to actively spawning trout, give them a break. We were in one area just watching fish that must have been close to 30 inches doing their thing, it was awesome. There was decent action for rainbows on egg patterns behind the spawning browns. I had a report from a guide buddy of mine in the area that a 28 inch brown was landed, measured and released last week. My friend hook a bow that was probably close to 24 but got off when I tried to net it...no way it was going to fit in the net and that's why it got off.

Here is the best of the day, 21+ inch brown. (my net measures 21 and it was slightly longer than the net)

Rich,

Beauty fish!!!  Looks like about the same area as when we went up?  Did you get to employ the secret fishing technique?  Sounds lie you guys did very well.

We were thinking about the 4 of us getting together for a day of fishing at Putah the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, and then having dinner at the Buckhorn afterwards?  Brian has volunteered to pick up the dinner tab there if we go.  Any interest?

Bob

Brian,

It was at the Blue Coyote, after the 4th pitcher of suds.  I clearly remember it!
I'm sure Rich and Shawn do as well.  It was right before you started hitting on the Peruvian waitress!ashamed

Hey Bob, yes the river was good to us! We focused a little lower on the river than where we were in April. We never made it to the area for the secret technique. If I'm in town for Thanksgiving I'd love to try and get out with you guys.

Brian, I specifically remember you telling the peruvian waitress that you were going to take your buds out for dinner after our next outing...I'm counting on it.

i know i wasnt that wasted, some beer hell ya, dont know about that dinner option though, sorry guys you dont have what this single guy wants, so buying dinner is off, but that waitress was slammin, maybe we need to head back there sooooooon.

GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES.

ill be on the lil T tomorrow as well as next tues, cant wait to get into some big O browns with the 3wt.

hey packrat you think the 3wt is just being a lil undergunned. if so ill carry the 5wt with me just incase. then i can use the 3wt for dry flys, and the 5wt for nymphing. what you think. how did those brownies fight.

So it sounds like that Sunday works.  We can figure out when and where next week.  I guess we can let Brian off the hook for dinner though.

Brian-

Let us know how you do.  I'm taking Friday off and making my first ever trip either to the Truckee or Little Truckee.  Not sure yet, but any info you can provide will help.

Funny story, true story (or I'd like to believe). Brian told me that he would treat JT and I to dinner last time we fished the Lower Y......

Maybe we could have a private buffet dinner w/ everyone from this board....biggrin

What do you say Brian? Dinner at Mikuni for 30? LOL

Sadly, I believe the only way we're getting dinner out of Brian right now is if he busts into his nuclear fallout shelter and dusts off some of those old cans of Spam he has stocked on the shelves down there.

I'll settle for that cold Bruno however!  Going up to the Klamath and Upper Sac tomorrow afternoon with some buds to do chase some steelies and Upper Sac rainbows.  Can't wait, should be a great time.
