11-12, great day to be on the water

started out a little later than i wanted, was keeping the fingers crossed all the way there hoping that it wasnt crowded. NOT A SINGLE CAR IN SITE. tried up nere the bridge first, fished my normal spot, and well those that were there know the fish that i hooked which went straight to the weeds and come undone, well he was back, and it was hugh, threw every streamer, goblin, crawdad, and even glow bugs, and beads, he didnt want anything to do with it, so moved down stream and hooked a few nice wild fish right off the bat, between the 12-14" range, mind you i was using the 3wt, but had the 5wt in the jeep for back up, worked the bridge area for a lil bit, as well as just below that as well, did hook a nice fish in that area but he come undone. i then moved downstream. first spot i fished is my go to spot in the fall, well not today, fished this area for a quick on off fish, never saw him, but he felt good, then moved upstream to a nice pool and got a big goose egg. i figured i would need to do some bushwacking to get to a good spot, so got back into the jeep and went back upstream, fished another pool that i like in the fall for another 0, after fishing that pool i remember there was a nice run just above that, so here comes the bushwacking, luckly the waders never sprung a leak, and the bushwacking pd off, i went 10 for 11 in that whole, the one i lost was a big boy, pushing my 3wt to its limit before coming undone, never broke off, just came undone from the force i was puttin on the fish to get him out of the seam, but did fight him for about 5mins, he did a nice air show for me as well as a few streaks down stream, he was pushing the envelope of 20"s if not
22"s. would have been nice to land him, but oh well, i did land a crap load of guys from the 12-15"s, took some photos of a few to have you all enjoy. as far as hatches, the midges where all day, with a huge hatch when i was catching all those fish, even saw a few bwos here and there, mostly on the lower creek though. glad i went out there, and glad i put the 3wt through its paces, i broke her in today. the hot flies......TO BE CONTINUED.....

here are a few pics of the trout from putah. as well as a nice buck crossing the river on the AR with a few nice AR big half pounders, 2 hatchery hens, and one nice wild buck. then you have the nice Little Truckee Brown as well as the nice fat East Carson bow. all fish were caught on the new 3wt rod, what a blast.

just a few nice big half pounders on the AR

the nice buck crossing the river just above me on the AR

my biggest brown yet, caught on the lil truckee on the 3wt

Brian,

Those look like the same 3 fish left over from your Halloween costume?

your telling me, i have seen him down there twice since i have fished this area and both times in the same spot, i think next time i will bring something with me so i can get some deer meat. just playing boys, but yes a very nice buck indeed. one that i would be proud of. i still havent killed me a deer yet, never got one back in new york, and havent hunted out here yet. so maybe next yr. shoot i could just post shop on the AR and i would be good to go.
