This Chinook was found dead in battle creek. Bioligist estimated it's weight, just before dying, to have been close to 85lbs.

Even if that fish was chrome, I wouldn't want to hook into that! That fish looks like it could have been a drag burner. Hopefully we get to see more big brutes like that in the future.

has anyone fished battle creek for steelhead, and if so is it any good.

It was nice fishing with you yesterday. Hope you didn't get too wet at the end. Two words... Die Hard. As for the picture, I think I'd estimate the weight without picking it up! hahaha

so is that a bad for salmon run or for steelies or for both, that area isnt to far from me and i have always wanted to try it.

I dont know if all of battle creek is off limits to fishing..I know the section by los molinos is not open for fishing...

Right back at you Aaron, that was fun. And yes, I got wet. I finally gave up after it took me 10 minutes, in gale force winds and rains, to tie up after losing yet another entire set-up to a salmon. That and I started feeling like the priest in caddyshack... idea
