Hey Cody the McCloud flows are around 900 cfs. It's pretty much blow out. I did hear from someone up there that the problem was that PGE was doing work up there and one their machines broke down and they had to special order a part and that's what screwed everything up and blew out 3 to 4 months. But I will give you a little secret. Fish the McCloud where it comes into lake Shasta. Good fishing specially at this time of the year. Good Luck.
The part that is blown is below lake McCloud, I assume you wanna fish the preserve ? Why don't you just fish the upper portion of the river, the fish may be smaller but its still one of the most bueatiful rivers in california. I've done well hiking the river around the falls area, Plus most of the crowds are now gone for the year. I had a great couple of days up in that area about this time last year, Browns, bows, and brookies. Besides if it isn't happening you can try the upper sac. or take a ride towards burney falls.
I just got back from the McCloud yesterday. The flows were very high and wading was extremely tough. The first day we fished the conservancy and got a few bumps but did not land any fish. The next day we float tubed McCloud reservoir and actually caught a few fish stripping streamers. It was beautiful and had a great first trip to the river.
