I'm new to the board and just wanted to say hello. I'm also heading up to the creek tomorrow to give it a shot. It's been awhile since I fished and don't know the creek that well so any help would be appreciated. I suppose a micro may would be a good fly to start with. Hope to see you guys out on the creek.
Welcome to the board, RN. Since I'm fairly new to fishing Putah, I'll digress to the Putah regulars for creek advice except that a Micro May would be a good fly to start with. Actually that's a great pattern to start fishing with in any trout stream. I'll probably be out there Sunday afternoon.
maybe I'll see ya out there Abelboy, I'm fishing putah this weekend. Just look for the guy that has a bueatiful casting style and who is hammering fish And that probably won't be me.

Well I have to say that Putah can be very humbling yet very rewarding. Started at #5 and lost two. Then went to the bridge and caught about 7 planters. Not knowing where to go after I decided to go back to where I started and fish it harder. I worked on my technique throughout the day which mainly came down to adjusting my indicator, my roll casts, and the amount of split shot. By the end of the day I was getting the drifts that I wanted and got this pig to show for it.
