well didnt do to much fishing when i was home but i did get out and do some. first day out i took out the family boat with the gf and fished on my grandmothers lake. didnt get anything on the fly rod, it was way to windy. did manage a nice rock bass and a 10" largemouth, the gf got the fish of the day a nice 18" musky.
got to fish west canada creek. what a stream. it has small mouth, fall fish, brookies, browns and rainbows, i fished the area that was trophy section at trenton falls. didnt know that at 11am the flows go from 600 to 1000. good thing i heard the horn. anyways got there just past sunrise and knew that hoppers and white mayflys was the trick. yes dry flys. so i went against that and tried some caddis pupahs and streams with nothing. so switched over to a hopper, first cast got a nice rise, and could get a hook set. worked that water after that with nothing. moved up closer to the falls and first cast a nice 16-18" brookie came flying out of the water to my hopper, and i set the hook to late and pulled it out of the mouth. once you got a fish to look that was it for that area. moved down stream and had the same thing happy, a nice 16" brookie flew 2 ft out of the air and i set to late, and a nice 20" brown did the same thing. talk about aggressive fish, i have never seen this before. ended the day with 10 huge rises with 0 fish to land.
next day fished a few small streams in my local area, nothing huge larger 14" brookie majority where 8-12"s. all take on tan to brown size 12-14 mayflys.
the one thing i wanted to do was to get a musky or pike or some toothy fish on the fly rod. before i left to new york, i went and bought the biggest and ugliest tarpon and salt water flys i could find. i know i will never use them again but i didnt care. the way i ended my vacation was on the ST LAWRENCE river. did a lil camping with the whole family. which was great. got a lil choked up when i had to leave. man with me gettin older its harder and harder for me to leave my true home. well anyways. the weather was only good for the first night there, the rest of the days it rained or was cold. well that nice day me and the dad went out, and at the first spot we hit i hooked up.
it was great, i am using my 7wt rod with the sink tip that i bought from packrat, i was stripping stupid light speed like me and jt did from browns at silver lake, then about 20ft from the boat i let it sink. and all i say was mouth open suck in the fly and was gone, and i set the hook. it was great. my fly line went everywhere, my dad came over to help my get all untangle. i was having the time of my life. and i set that hook hard.
so after about 7mins of fighting the fish i got him landed. a nice 24" northern pike. nice fight and even greater memory. one that i will remember for life.
my dad did out fish me that day, he landed 3 but all small, i got the fish of the day. the rest of the trip we hooked into fish but never got them to stick.
so that was my vacation. nothing great but one to remember for ever.
here are a few pics of the trip.
where is the fly. oh ya all in its mouth. this fish took a 6" long fly it was great
hope you enjoy. all pics give to you via new camera. yaaaaa. finaly got a dig

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
Glad you got to enjoy yourself. I'n sure you had a great trip! I'm not sure who's uglier, you or that fish? I'll have to have a beer and think about that one.
