Im heading up to the trinity river in a few weeks, and I wanted to know if anyone has hit it recently. I usially stick with the swinging method and use the classics, (hiltons, brindles, arsonals, assassins, commits, etc.. ) I just want to see what other folks been using lately.

You have some good flies in your mix. For a Northern California/Southern Oregon Steelhead selection, I would add a Conehead Popscicle, Conehead Blue Moon (a popscicle in blue, purple, and black), 100% Leech (an articulated egg sucking leech), and Anderson's Euphoria.

Enjoy your time on the water.

Herb from the Trinity Fly shop swears by the muddler. He calls it "man's best friend".

Thanks for the feedback, muddlers are fun when you use them as dry flies in the afternoon, skating them across the surface.

Exactly how Herb told me to use them. The takes are even better than fishing dries. The steelies will explode on the fly or leave sink sized boils when they take.
