With a very very heavy heart I am sorry to anounce that a good friend of mine and an advocate of Putah creek has passed away.Gordon and his wife were involved in a flash flood in Utah and both perished, the friends and guides that were with them were caught as well but managed to survive.Gordon was one of the key members of our Putah Creek Trout organization and one of my clients who became my friend. He was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist who loved Putah Creek was pasionate about everything he did.I know that many of you knew Gordon as well as he was a Putah Creek regular and a long time member of the forum. I am trying to find out any information about the funeral arrangements and if i do I will post it as soon as possible. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gordon, his family and friends. Greg Bonovich

Gordon's screen name was   "Gordon"

I was so sad to hear of his death.

There is an online article describing the accident that he and his family were involved in.

That's terrible to hear.  I was just thinking about him the other day.  Gordon was an awesome guy.  We fished together and swapped flies quite a few times on the creek.  He had to take a break from fly fishing for a while to allow his shoulder to heal after surgery.  He will be greatly missed.

Here is a picture of Gordon with a nice fish that he caught while fishing with Otter a couple of years ago.

RIP Gordon.  That's too bad.  First guy I ever saw using a 10 footer at Putah.

Damn.

I hadn't heard from Gordon in a while.  Whenever I made a post about a particularly good or bad evening, he'd PM me and we'd exchange war stories.  I saw him on the creek several times and he was one of those guys that if you were an expert of a novice, he took time to talk to you.

He really just loved the experience of fly fishing, and was always willing to share knowledge and give people flies.

I'll miss him, as we all will.

Tight Lines Gordon.

JL

Sorry to hear about your friends. Even though I never met them. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Family and Friends. The only Hope man kind has is no matter who we loose to death. Rather it be a family member or a close friend. We will see them in the resurrection again with perfect health and none of us will ever face death again.

I just read the story from the Salt Lake Tribune. What an unfortunate tragedy.

I did not know Mr or Mrs Chapple. I've lived in or near Walnut Creek for more than 30 years. They sound like they were very special people.

It is uplifting and humbling to read of how impactful one man could be through his love of the outdoors and sport.

To Bono, those on the board that knew them, and any members of the Chapple family who might read this, our deepest sympathy and condelences to you and yours during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Ed Justus & Family.
