Does anyone ever fish Putah above berryessa? Or is there even any public land to access the creek from?
I was looking at the stream on google maps (satellite), and it looks pretty cool. Lots of boulders and nice riffles, and probably has a nice flow when the tailwater is roaring in the summer.
Yes and no...You can fish up there but you wont get much in the way of trout..water is to warm...I have paddle from the bridge past berryessa estates and the only fish we caught were small large mouth and junk fish...when you get up to the riffles it looks good but still to warm...It was a lot of fun and I would do it again...I used streamers the whole time...
The trout from berryessa will head up to Putah and Pope creeks to spawn and when the water warms will go back to the lake.Generally speaking they are all gone by the time the season opens. These 2 creeks have an AMAZING array of aquatic insects that would put lower Putah creek to shame.
