Hello All,
Was thinking of heading out to lake solano in the kayak tomorrow evening does anyone have any reports on the lake?  Never have fished it before and would like to know what to do? Perhaps dredging with some streamers or using floating line with ????? Any help would be great. Flies, technique, etc.... Fish On..

I fish Lake Solano a few times each year from my canoe.  You can't go wrong stripping an olive bugger.  A friend once caught a 24 inch brown doing that when we were out in the canoe.  You will also usually see rising fish in the evening, so dries can work well then.  Good luck.

You can throw damselfly nymphs along the weedbeds.  Don't be afraid to match the hatch.  Look at the surface of the water to see what has been hatching lately.  There usually tons of midges and sometimes you can catch a mayfly spinner fall.

Hey Out For Trout-

See you out there around 3:00pm. Looking forward to it. We will float lower 5 to the campground.

Bring two rods. One for stripping and one for site fishing to risers.

set, set, set.

Yes if you are in any sort of boat/canoe/kayak. You do not have to wear them but they must be in your water craft. Oh by the way the fishing was poor. One hook up from my buddie. No fish coming off the water at sunset either. Not sure how to fish this lake/stream very similar to Fall River though. Nice to just be out on the water I guess????? Although fish are very nice.

Well we hit Lake Solano and not to much to say beside it looks awesome. Alot like theFall River. Not much to say for the fishing though. One grab amongst three of us. No caddies coming off at sunset either which was surprising.  Threw everything including the kitchen sink. Any thoughts would be great? Perhaps in the Fall when the fish begin to spawn might be a good time. Hot-Hot- Hot out there but still with the water at a cool 57 you would think something would grab the numerous flies we through. Oh well a good time was had.
