Eastern sierra trip info. needed.

I'm making a 10 day trip to the eastern sierra's in a few weeks and was looking for any help, hints, tips, info, or whatever else anyone may have to offer. I'm looking at camping maybe at convict lake and or near lee vining creek. These spots look pretty good to have a base camp to hit alot of water, I'd like to fish convict lake, and the owens river mainly but also would like to look at green creek, lee vining creek, virginia creek, and of course the east walker wich i am already familiar with. Or if anyone knows any other good camping spots in that area let me know please. thanx for any help. Anyone got any east slope pics. to share ?

If you camp at Convict Lake, you'll be close to Hot Creek and Crowley Lake.  Also, just a few miles above Mammoth Lakes there are a couple of small lakes worth investigating.  When I was driving around site seeing, I talked to a spin fisherman and he said that the lakes were stocked.  However, he said that catching five pound rainbows is not that uncommon.  There are a couple of fly shops in Mammoth Lakes that can help you with info.

Captain,

I would highly recommend checking in at the Troutfitter in Mammoth.  All their guides are good, but I think Brad might be the best.  I spent a morning with him on Hot Creek and caught more large trout in a compressed time than any other morning in my life.

The trout fishing in that area in my opinion is the best in the state.

I forgot to add hot creek, thats a defenite spot to hit. I've read that it has the highest density of trout per mile of any river or creek in the state. Also mono and inyo counties have excellent stocking programs, the fish are not the dfg planters, Much more like a wild fish, I caught some in the west and little walkers last year, decent fish.
