Diego
I've never fished that water but people do very well there and they say you have to fish from a ladder from the bank.

I just got off the phone with my brother who fished Pyramid today.  I've been sick or I would have been with him.  He said fishing today was really SLOW.  Part of the problem was the wind; it was very calm today.  Pyramid usually fishes best when there is a stiff wind.  Of course, today may have been just an off day, but if I were going to fish the lake, I would call around to local shops before going.  Last year the fishing seemed to shut down very quickly in May.

I saw quite a few pictures at the fly shop from recent trips to Pyramid--very hot at the time!!! Unfortunately, that was two weeks ago. As Nohackle said, call Reno Fly Shop first. March and April are generally the peak months.

For ladder/fish pictures and earlier reports: http://www.kiene.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=8631&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Nice...Well thanks for all the ideas. I had noticed the typical ladder method the lake is
known for. Pretty interesting. Some nice fish coming out there, thats for sure. Thanks for
the help everyone!

My brother fished Saturday for 3 or 4 hours before he came home.  He hooked 5 fish and landed 3 (18", 21", 22").  He said that as far as he could tell, he was doing better than most of the other anglers.  Several anglers were quitting early because of the slow fishing.  He was fishing Pelican Point.  One guy he talked to said that the fishing really shuts down when the lake water temp gets above 56 degrees.  He said the lake is currently 52.  Since Reno is supposed to get hot on Wednesday of this week, I would expect that the lake temperature will continue to rise.  I'm not saying it's not worth a trip to the lake.  I believe, however, the fishing will be more "iffy".

All I can say is, If you can make it out there...GO!!! It was a really great day, we had about a 20 fish day. Smallest 17' with the largest being 26'. Great weather, and great day of fishing.

Diego,

Those are some beautiful fish!  If I could only find the time, I'd have to go check it out myself.
