Hey everyone,
This summer i am going on a one week rafting trip down the grand canyon's Colorado River and I know that there is great fishing down there so if anybody knows anything about the fishing down there, rigs flies and other stuff, id like to know. I am probably a little early asking about this but the earlier i know the better. Thanks.

Thanks to everyones contributed help on this board, I had a very successful trip... I caught around 25 to 30 trout, 6 carp and 3 catfish.
The trip was 7 days and i recommend everyone to do this trip. I could only fish during lunch and at night so i got a good amount of line time. I caught all off the trout with woolybuggers and the goblin i got from the fly swap. The carp on nymphs and a newly discovered steak and onion fly. The catfish were also caught on a newly discovered shrimp ****tail. The biggest trout was 17", carp 25" and the catfish around 25" (unofficial measurement).

The fishing was good but the scenery was AMAZING! Every day we would stop and hike down slot canyons, jump off cliffs (highest being around 40'), swim in warm springs and swim in the little colorado. There was wildlife everywhere you looked. Rattlesnakes, lizards, frogs, bighorn sheep, and the best TROUT! The food was also amazing. We got gourmet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you do decide to do this trip, do the 7 day motor trip with Western River Expeditions and request Marty as one of the boat men. Oh yea, and to top it all off the rapids were HUGE!biggrin.gif

They are exactly what they sound like. The steak fly is a piece of steak on a fly and so on and so forthbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif I would stay up late and fish for the carp and catfish at night with these "flies"...

Steak and onion, man those flies don't catch the big ones you should have been using the hot dog fly. Looks like getting the cast off is working. Nice rattlesnake did you hook em and cook em?
