Tim Lincecum is awesome.  It's too bad the A's couldn't have picked him up, though.

Spent a couple of days in Scottsdale watching the Giants back in early March. After one of the games, I stood in disbelief watching so many drunk and SOBER SF fans celebrating a worthless spring training victory (almost like a NL pennant/WS championship) after coming back in the eight to win by one. Another strong indication that the fans realize it's going to be a very long season... Lincecum will be interesting to watch.  Be thankful he doesn't play for the A's.  If he continues to shine/develop, the AL East would gladly reap the A's talent once again.

Or he would do well with the A's, and the Giants would pay WAY too much for him just before he does a huge belly flop.  Sound familiar?

I think it's hilarious...Zito plays great when he's on the A's, but once the Giants give him a huge contract, he sucks. It's a good thing I hate the Giants. Go A's!

Zito is having a tough time...I can think of far more who have not flopped--

My point was Lincecum would hopefully stay in the Bay Area with a potential deal/contract if he continues to develop.  For A's fans, frustration of a small market kills...Do a few guys like Damon, Giambi, Foulke (who has returned), Tejada, Brocius ring a bell?  Oh, how about "The Straw that Stirs the Drink" Jackson.  Or, "Ball Off the Head" Jose.  Can't forget about BigMac!

The A's organization has a very distinguished farm system and an ability to foster young talent.  Unfortunately, as many fans know, their small market doesn't allow for the over-inflated contracts of the Yankees, Bosox, O's, etc.  Hopefully, SF will have a better chance of retaining come contract time....so we may all enjoy for more than a few years.

Enough baseball.  Back to tying some flies!  biggrin

Hey Flying Dutchman you forgot about Hudson, Haren, Swisher and Kotsay!!! The A's really are small market, our company has had season tickets to the A's the past few years, and the only time the stadium is full is when the bosox and yankee fans show up!!
It is nice to see you have a new avatar. Is that a Yuba fish?

No offense to you JT, Damon Bruce from KNBR said the Zito signing was one of the worst in the past 25 years. I would say the Benitez trade was probably worse.  The Giants had to pay to get rid of that clown!!

How was the fishing on the Yuba Brunocarp Bruce? A few of us are heading up there on Sunday.
