Fished the Stanislaus for a few hours on Saturday.  To my surprise there was a big hatch of flyfishers.  A fly fishing club from Livermore was having a field trip.  They were all friendly and courteous, but I have never seen so many people up there.  One woman from the club I talked to landed four fish with two over 16".  I landed two fish to 16".  Both were caught in Chris Laskodi's Brown trout spot.biggrin  One on a Tan Poohpah and one on a new soft hackle baetis I have been working on.  Flows are good at about 250CFS, and the water clarity is 2 to four feet.  Lots of bugs.  The BWOs were out in the afternoon  and the caddis were flying later in the day.  Some other mayflies  PEDs? and midges also showed up late in the day.  Nice water to try high sticking and swinging soft hackles.  smile

Chris,

Yep, pretty typical for the weekend--"a big hatch of flyfishers"...Swinging a soft hackle right in the film has worked for me, too.

After reading another report about three FF floating below Knight's Ferry with only four fish total, I'm happy to view your report of more people with a multiple catch day. Glad you got a chance to go out--still under "house arrest"...finally getting over nasty flu and a growing Honey-Do List!!!
