well looks like i was offered a drifting lesson on the lower sac on weds, not 100% sure yet, but it sounds like its a good. so i wont say no. so need a lil info if at all possible from you more experienced guys out there.
i am hoping to start fishing a few more bodies of water. started it with the ar this yr, and really opened the door when i fished the yuba yesterday and loved it. we (lilwhippersnapper, the captain, ac22 and myself) did ok considering the weather we just had. everyone hooked into fish, cappy hooked 3 really nice fish 16-20" mark, lilwhipper hooked a few and landed a nice 14"er, ac22 hooked a few, and i hooked 2 landed 2, one at 14"s and a beautiful fish at 20"s, i did take a pic and yes its on a disposable, pics soon.
anyways one thing i wanted to do this yr is to start fishing other rivers and why not start it off with a bang. so lower sac here i come. and like i said if you got any good, great or just pointers in general that would be great.
thanks brian

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
You need to get in contact with "The fly shop" in Redding. Their website is a good place to start. They have good info in the "stream report" section. Good luck out there.
Go for it Brian, i'd jump at the chance to drift the lower sac. The yuba was alot of fun yesterday, Its one of those rivers I am determined to figure out. Was a good time as usual.

I hope your dog made it through. The Lower Sac is a fantastic drift. Great indicator fishing with big, tough fighting fish. The Upper drift, from Posse Grounds to Bonneyview is a good way to get started on this river. A lower drift, from Jelly's Ferry to Andereson will get you into some steelhead and is supposed to be fishing really well right now.
its funny you say those bob, i am going from bonneyview to anderson. so i am guessing thats gonna be a great drift.

Nope, he was hit in the head, and probably died instantly... At least he wasn't hit by the tire... No blood and guts, just a tiny drop of blood from his mouth.
That sucks . . . losing a dog is never easy. Sorry to hear about it. What a crappy, unexpected end of a day.
Brian, Bonneyview to Anderson will be a very long drift, especialaly @ the 3500 cfs flows on the Lower Sac right now. You're getting your money's worth, that's for sure. We did that drift last year on a 20,000 cfs day and made it in at dark!
On another note, the Pleasanton show was this weekend, as always a good show. Got to meet Yukon Mike at his booth, what a nice guy. Got a nice BW Sports waterproof jacket for $100!!!! I love their stuff, have always had good wear out of their clothing and vests. The price is always right, that's for sure. This will take care of me in Montana this year!
LilWhip ~ Oh man, I am so sorry. Sometimes I wish people would just drive a little slower and a lot of accidents would be avoided. All dogs go to heaven!
Sorry about the dog, that sucks. At least he/she didn't suffer.
Brian not sure what the flows will be like on wednesday but today at Bend just bove Red Bluff the river is ripping at over 20,000. However the further you head upriver the more clear the river becomes so bonnyview may be okay but you may have to go Posse to Bonnyview as there are less tribs to muddy up the water. Go to or call the Fly Shop in Redding. they are on this river just about everyday and know exactly what the fish are biting. You will most likely be indicator nymphing from 6 to 9 feet down.
