just wondering has anyone heard or fished any of the local rivers lately, like the yuba, feather, maybe some of the coastal rivers say withing 2 hours or so of say sac or surrounding areas. dont care if its trout or steelhead, would prefer steelhead but just looking to get away from the AR crowd, was gonna do putah weds but doesnt seem like its fishing all that great right now.

The Russian might be a good bet if the weather holds.

well just found out that she will be going to class that day, so no gf on weds, and also just looked at the weather, ya not good, gonna start raining tomorrow evening all the way through the week. so more than likely ill be on the AR weds, and a river trip with the boys wont be till next week. we shall see.

Captain,

The russian has a lot of wadable water. I think the mouth is off limits, but not 100% on that. It becomes fishable on the fly at around 1200Cfs, but the best flows are 1000-500Cfs.

There are lots of fish, but they don't hold when the flows are up.

Good fly water is Johnsons beach in Guerneville, be prepared for crowds.

Lots of wadeable water. There are places all the way up to Cloverdale that are good fishing. My experiences have been between Healdsburg and Cloverdale.

Let me know when you come out to the Russain Captain,  I'll take you out or if I can't go then I can draw you a map.  There a way more fish in the Russian than the Gualala as of this week.  I just spent two days up at Gualala with not a bite.  Saw two fish Sat hammering upstream together both chromers and one very rainbow looking fish Mon.  One of the locals told me the fish are going straight up and not stopping.  The clarity may be too good actually, it was beautiful.  If you really wanted to go up north go fish the S. fork of the Eel.  As for the Russian we have three foot visibility,it's greened up and clearing as long as we get no rain.  Bring your shooting head and a box of comets.

Captain go ASAP. The rains are coming. I've been talking with guys and the Eel is getting really nice reports, the Russian is a good bet. Cole is right about the Gualala. Pretty, but spooky fish. really pretty though. Bring your camera if you go, I'd love to see some pics.
