Like Tug, I also had a good day on the stream. This was a surprise since I got skunked a week ago and caught only one 12 incher the trip before. Today I caught 5 fish: 15, 16, 15, 22 1/2, and 18 (foul-hooked). All were caught on beadhead mayfly nymphs. I might add that the two big fish came from an area I would not normally fish in Winter. The spot is normally a bit too shallow to hold good fish. However, with the off-color water, I think the fish felt more secure holding there. In any case, that was my rationale for fishing there and I can't argue with the results.
Sounds like you had a great time. I need to get back out there. I got discouraged from my last skunk, but it sounds like the fish are hungry!! Thanks for sharing.
New member here! So if I mess this up that's my excuse. I too was on Putah on the 11th and landed a 28" Buck sporting a large kype, nice fish! one of the larger fish I have landed in my 27 years on the creek.
