My father told me that they might shut down the American between feb. and march to prevent people going out and thrahsing the spawning steelhead in the river......anyone heard anything bout that...?
Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.

Here's another link to closing part of the American. This one is more pro then the one on Fish Sniffer. The idea has seemed to open a can of worms, not to mention a feud between some fly fishermen vs. some bait and hardware fishermen. This could get ugly.
ya really ugly, the only reason why we "fly fisherman" want to see this closure is because we actually care about the fish, and our fisheries, i keep stating that its not about the fisherman, its all about the fish. on fishsniffer.
we all know what happened after the closure from 94-98. from 99-04 the fishing was absolutley perfect, from 04 till now its just been a steady decline.
we fly fisherman would love to see that happen again.
they keep saying that it needs to be catch and release. um whats that gonna solve. nothing. people will still be fishing, walkin all over the redds, and snagging. it wont solve anything, but a closure will solve it.
the ones that are fighting to keep it open and make it a catch and release are a one track minded fisherman. AS PACKRAT WOULD SAY, THEY DONT THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX,
us fly fisherman think outside the box all the time. those guys that dont, only know one thing, and they are the best at it. SNAGGING.
my 2cents
