A new online program has been designed to enable users to Report Suspicious Activity on Putah Creek. The results of these reports will be forwarded to either the Dept. of Fish & Game's Enforcement Dept. or local law enforcement officials.
This program is a work in progress. Your comments and suggestions on how to improve this program are very much appreciated.
Let's make Putah Creek a safer and more enjoyable place to fish by reporting any suspicious activity.
THIS IS GREAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO COME ALONG, WHO BROUGHT UP THIS IDEA.
I AM SO HAPPY, ONE STEP CLOSER TO MAKING PUTAH A BETTER PLACE

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
On the creek at access #5 I found some folks who showed up with spin rods, coolers, etc. When I inquired about what I was seeing, I learned they had no licenses, no idea about a fishing season when it was ok to use marshmellows and velveta cheese for bait. I was given a lot of grief in return. They were reported to the ranger at Lake Solano, and to the rangers credit, were excited about the prospect of visiting poachers at the creek. I hope all went well. However, if anyone sees this car at the creek, make sure they pick up all their beer cans and trash. If it is before April 14th, report them again for using bait and taking fish out of season. Maybe sometime they will get the idea.
Good job! With digital cameras, we should all be able to take pictures of the culprits. That gets rid of the "your word against theirs" crap. I just wanted to clarify the open trout season (all gear, including bait and barbed hooks). Regular trout season opens the last Saturday in April. This year that is the 26th of April, not the 14th.

The only thing that sucks is that lake solano is open all year, and people could still be like " i didn't know this wasnt part of lake solano" and crap like that. Thats one thing that needs to change regardless, is to make lake solano closed durring the off season, so it will maybe help with the non knowledgable fishermen. I just see too many people bait fishing putah durring the off season, and more than half of them dont even give a f#$@. This is where we need help from DFG, but i know they are "under staffed" and all that, I've tried calling caltip, and sending in pics, but it doesnt seem to work. I dunno ... I hope that maybe this message board will make a dent in some of the ignorant fishermen that feel the need to abuse putah. grats on that! Lets keep trying!
The problem sometimes is that the cell phone doesn't have much of a signal on the creek, but the camera phone was a great invention. It works great because most of us always has one on us. The other thing was I just dropped by the ranger station and the rangers were there, and it was on the way home. I didn't know about Lake Solano not being closed in the off season.
Mike you da man!!!I think its hilarious that you took a picture of those retards, yes they are retards for acting like they dont know the rules and regulations!Anyway great job, this is what Putah needs more of......By the way you should of asked them to at least smile! On another note the closure of lake Solano will never happen, this I guarantee.
I think that's fine as far as the lake goes. If someone is found on the creek fishing with bait in the off season and they don't feel like going to the lake, what's their excuse? If I tell them of a perfectly viable option which is right down the road, they have no one to blame if they get nailed for poaching. I really don't want people getting pissed off at us for being overly protectionist about the creek, but when I see folks hauling out fish and leaving loads of trash for myself and friends to take the time out of our day on the creek to pick up and carry out, I get upset.
Mike
P.S. Death to spincasting except in some kind of dire emergency.

I would let them know that what they're doing is illegal. Make it sound like you're doing them a favor. If they give you a hard time then call the cal tip hotline. I think the number is on the back of your license.
It's not ok they do this in lake solano either since that's also zero limit. Where do you think the big fish go to in the summer?
You can tell they aren't ones to read regulations. There's nothing wrong with conventional gear as long as you play by the rules. More people that fish PC and Solano legally the more people will take care of this place.
