THE TRUCKEE UP IN THE TRUCKEE AREA HAS REALLY SLOWED DOWN. THE YUBA OPENED ABOVE THE HWY 20 BRIDGE ON DECEMBER 1ST, SO IT IS OPEN NOW. HAVE FISHED IT 3 TIMES OVER THE LAST WEEKS, AND THE RIVER IS FISHING PRETTY WELL. DECENT NUMBERS OF LARGE FIGHTING FISH. THE EGG BITE IS STILL ON, SO BRING SOME EGG PATTERNS IN RED OR ORANGE. ALSO OLIVE FOX PUPA IS WORKING. IF YOU'RE FISHING IT THIS WEEK, THE KEY IS TO LOOK AT THE FLOW REPORTS AFTER THE RAINS. CHECK OUT THE DEER CREEK INFLOW ON THE YUBA RIVER FLOW SECTION. IF DEER CREEK CFS IS 90 OR BELOW, IT SHOULD BE PRETTY FISHABLE. IF DEER CREEK IS OVER 90 CFS, THE YUBA WILL BE CHOCOLATE AND NOT VERY FISHABLE.

I'M A NEW POSTER, AND THE REPORTS YOU GUYS POST ON PUTAH ARE VALWAYS A BIG HELP, SO I HOPE TO RETURN THE FAVORS HERE. THANKS, HOPE CONDITIONS WORK OUT FOR YOU.

Hey Brian,

I tried the Little truckee river few weeks back, didnt hit the Truckee lot of people on it.....

But the little truckee is a great little river....problem is its fished often and the fish get realllllly jumpy.. and you have to fish from your knees

I got some hits on a 16 EH caddis on the Little Truckee.....but as of the big TRuckee....cant say to much

Been years since I've been up that way, just trying to get re oriented.

Many Thanks,

i beleive it is just north west of timbuctoo......

more west than north but yes in that general vacinity

Here have a look on this......http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=yuba+river&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

timbuctoo should be just to the east of the green marker and you can see HWY 20 shooting across the river

Not trying to pick a bone but the Truckee's water has got to be in the 30's and that is not going to account for good fishing. Where did you hear this from? (PM me if you want). i want to go out and check it for myself but its brutal cold right now.

With the snow there is no way you can get to the Little T unless you got a snowmobile, cross country skis, or a sled with some Juskies/malmutes.

I have also heard the Yuba has been decent. But its just not the same as it was several years ago.

I figured the truckee was much to cold now for good fishing. I think the trout really slow down and don't feed much when the water temp. hits the mid. 40's, the 30's would be terrible fishing. Anyone know the average temp. of putah, I'd guess mid to low 50's.

I fish the Prosser, Truckee and Little Truckee alot in the spring. summer and fall. Fantastic fly fishing!!!! Any productive fishing on these rivers is done until May/ June depending on the snowfall.  You can go up there and catch a couple of fish, but right now you're beter off fishing Putah or skiing Tahoe. I have a place in Truckee, would be happy to host an early summer Fishing run in the area!!!!
