Alot of fish schooling up to spawn but i have yet to see a redd. Right now there just chasing each other around. Last year it was in full swing around mid december.

There is at least one area on the creek where the fish are spawning. I was checking them out for a while just looking at the size of the fish. Some of them are giants. Probably those fish that snap you off in a few seconds, or that are so heavy you can't even move them. Anyways mesmerized by the fish I missed fishing my favorite spot as someone pulled in above and caught three fish in no time. My fault though should have been fishing instead of watching the fish.
Hey otter i know exactly were you are talking about. And if you plan to fish that favorite spot of yours ya better get there very early cuz thats were im headed saturday morning. Of course I'd share with ya, I might learn somethin.
I hit the Creek this morning. I ventured into some new territory and came upon area full of monsters. It was unbelievable fish easily 20-inches plus chasing each other all over the place. There must have been about a dozen or more. I made few casts to them, but no takers. I thought also saw some "bowls" scrapped out in the gravel. Definitely watch where you are wading.
I ending up catching only one fish today...my first legitimate fish at Putah. A nice fat Bow around 16/17 inches taken on a #18 black zebra midge drifted under a caddis dry. Of course I didn't have a camera. I do have one momento though a well bent midge; that little hook came close to bending out. Nonetheless its amazing how quickly the morning chill goes away when you got a fish pulling line off the reel and huge bruisers cruising around you.
Zebra midge has become my goto fly lately. I have a good idea of were you may be talking about scm and i just hope those fish dont get harrased to much because they are in a very exposed spot.
man i wish i knew where everyone is talkin about, but maybe i dont, i dont want to be disappointed when i see those fish. well cant wait till friday, gonna try some spots that i have seen but never really hit them hard, all near my go to spots right now. so it should work well in my favor. hit my go to spots then those that i havent fished all that hard or ever. think ill see if i cant find my fly box as well. i know the area that it would have been dropped in so might as well give it a try. as far as zebra midges, i think midges in general weather it be zebra, disco, drowned any midge is a go to fly. i feel the same way cappy. and you and me can prove it as well.
well hopefully ill have something goo to post about come weds for my tuesday adventure. ill keep ya posted

I agree Captain, the fish I saw were definitely exposed to snaggers and unattentive waders. These fish had no interest in the few casts I made to them, so they are well focused on fighting and mating.
I read the other post on snagging, I am not sure I if I was in the area referenced. I fished the same area from around 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with only pair of anglers passing me in the morning. The two guys that came across me (heading upstream) knew what was up, they exited the water and headed onto the road to walk around the spawning bed. I stayed below the area working a nice stretch of faster water.
I initially had some reservations about people putting up signs near the spawning beds. However, after hearing some fools were trying to foul hook fish, I have changed my mind about posting signs since: 1) It makes those who are inexperienced or unfamiliar with the area aware of where not to wade; and 2) puts would be snaggers on notice there are people keeping an eye out.
Fished the creek today not one bite.....only saw a 2 fish rising all day..... lots of guys on the creek today. everyone I talked to had gotten skunked. Saw a fellow catch one fish on a P.Adams at #5 but that was it.
Brian, I wont be there this Friday but I will be on the 14th. Let me know if you want to hook up and hit the creek....
ill have off so more than likely ill be down. keep intouch to remind me. ill let you know how it goes tomorrow. i wont give my special spots away, but if you fish with me on friday you will will fish them with me. but you cant tell know one. hahaha
