I've noticed a few guys have mentioned that there is a clean-up day on Nov 17th. I'd like to pitch in and help but I don't know the details. Can anybody fill me in?

I saw this notice on the Napa Valley Fly Fishers Web Site about their Putah Creek Cleanup Day.  Maybe we can get a group together to join them.

November 17 is Putah Creek Cleanup Day.
Meet at parking area 1, cleanup from 9-noon,
lunch and raffle from 12:00 - 1:00,
and then fishem' if you brought em'!

Here is the latest information from the Napa Valley Fly Fisherman's November Newsletter.

Nov. 17 is Putah Creek Clean Up Day sponsored by Sweeney's Sports who provides raffle prizes, Napa Valley Fly Fishers who provides food and drink, and Fly Fishers of Davis that provides the famous Road Kill Chili, and for the first time this year, members of the Fairfield club who will pitch in picking up trash with us. We will meet at parking area 1 (parking free for the day) at 9:00 am, pick up trash until noon, lunch and raffle from noon 'till 1:00, a short stream clinic on how to fish low flow Putah will follow lunch, and then fish 'em if you brought 'em!

I have been thinking that this would be an excellent opportunity for those of us who post on this board to meet and put faces to names.  I have met some of you on the creek and fished with a few, but it would be nice to meet more of the regulars.  Could we perhaps arrange to eat lunch together after the cleanup?  I thought it might even be helpful if we filled out name tags to help facilitate things.  Any thoughts?

I'll be there, I was gonna post a reminder, But no need to now. Haha, I'll get a few hours of fishin in before 9 a.m. Should we bring trash bags ? Does someone have a truck to take away all the trash ? As chemdoc stated, It'll be cool to put faces to names. Looks like food is provided, Anyone wanna drink a beer or two, I'll take request's, Name your favorite and beers are on me ! We also need to get some sighns posted along the creek this winter, We need to remind the people its artificials with barbless hooks, And no bag limit. I'm gonna cancel a sierra trip for this so I hope quit a few people show up to help the creek out.

The garbage bags and food have all been provided in the past.  The cleanup covers the entire creek from Lake Solano up to the bridge and beyond.  We usually split into pairs and pick areas to clean, then meet back at access 1 later for lunch.

Well I was planning on being there and looking forward to meeting everyone,but my youngest son's football team is involved in the "mighty might bowl" on that day and of coarse thats exactly where I'll be.Then hopefully my oldest sons team (the one that I coach) will be playing in the championship the following day providing we win tommorow (Sunday)gotta love it!!Hopefully there will be another cleanup soon (there usually is).Somebody save a bowl of that chili for me!!! Bono

well just worked it out so i can make it on saturday. yes i finally have a saturday off. so ill see yall out there cleaning. and eric and shaun bright and early as usual. you know how we roll. and shaun you and me will be out in force. "BAIT DUNKER PATROL".

you and me both bro, you and me both. freaking stupid how those guys bitch about us puttin fish back, and its them that are killing all the fish. man society these days. i cant wait until i retire, i am thinkin up in the mountains where it takes 1 hour to get to society and have a river or creek in my back yard. man i know a crap load of spots like that here in cali, in montana, and in new york. but shot i am only 26 got a long way to go.

You can pick my brain however that shouldn't take more than a few seconds. I was lookin to do some brain picking myself smile

I could share my secret holes ,however I always see a lot of other people fishing them. Obviously not too secret.idea

well i have it off and would have to say that i am 75% there and eric as i know it will be you me and cappy fishin in the am till clean up like we did before. i will let you 2 know later in the week if i am a for sure thing to make it.

well hit rock bottom, way to much crap going on right now, with christams just around the corner, now my roomy found a job and is moving out and so do i, that will be around mid to late january, then march 15th is my gfs birthday, then going to new york to visit the family, very very stressed out financially right now. so what other way to try to get away from it all but to go fishing with some buddies. SO CAPPY AND LIL WHIP ILL BE THERE FOR SURE. no ifs ands or buts on this one. i am there. i need to catch some fish and just get away from all the bullsh-t going on in my life right now. way way way to much stress.

I would love to come but will be in Mexico.  Love to meet some of you, maybe next time.  We keep talking about a bait ban out on the creek, but what about a UC Davis student who doesn't know how to raft the creek without wedging the raft on a tree ban?  Although I saw a couple pretty young ladies do it last time.  It was kinda worth seeing I guess.biggrin

well thats what i am hoping, but you know what will happen, as soon as i get home or on the way home it will all set back in, but while i am fly fishing you know i aint thinkin about nothing but me the water and nature, and having a good time with the boys that i am fishing with.
