I just got back from the creek today.  Got 15 landed 10.  All of the fish were 10-13 inchers.  All where on an olive wolly bugger.  Meet WytEurp today. Fishing seemed to get tuffer in the afternoon but between 9-12 it was real good.

I can vouch for that 50 plus day, Brian was hammering em on a  bugger ! The wooly bugger looked like a shreaded peice of marabou when it was done. Hey Brian you were rollcasting the hell out of that rod. Go get those half pounders tommorrow.

thanks bro, i have been practicing that roll castin in my front yard with that 5wt, i think ill kick ass once i get some 6wt line for my 6wt rod. as far as tomorrow i sure hope i do. will fish the dry fly (elk hare caddis) untill i have to leave that will be about 9am, so from 7-9 ill do the dry, then go back after the work meeting and use some caddis larva or pupae maybe a dark lord or prince nymph as well. would try the egg but no salmon. ill let you know how it is. but after noon ill be there from after the meetin till about 5 or so. wish i could do the evening dry fly but have to spend some quality time with the girlfriend too. ill be at putah on tuesday with the boss. should be good. gonna pick up somemore of those woolies that i was using. and if the get beat up then you know what that means. see ya soon bro.

When are they going to stop messing with the flows? The instability of the water flow does not seem to have a huge impact on production...thoughts? A 10 fish day seems excellent.

You know I did notice that my luck quickly ended around noon, which ironically was when the flows spiked on thursday... before that they had been at a consistant 46cfs for a few weeks. I really felt lucky that day because before thursday I never had much luck, but thanks to you fellas and gals I had a good day. Although I will admit I am still not fishing the small stuff like you guys... I just dont have the confidence to fish a size 22 fly

You should try #24s.  It's a huge leap of faith, but you'll be surprised with the results.

fished a #24 as a dropper on thursday....set it 3" behind a size 16 off the shank...its the same thing as fishing a bead set up...the #24 is a mini jw I have made for me....I used 8x..the biggest fish on that #24 was 18" ....

I fish the #24 as a normal dropper, 12" of the bend of my lead fly.  I don't use 8X, though.  So far 6X fluorocarbon has been working.  It seems a little big to me for a fly that small, but the fish don't seem to mind.

The smallest I've tied and used is a #24.  I've looked at the #26-32's, but I don't know about that yet.  dtp916 said that he has some #32's.  That is crazy small!

There were a few fish rising on some midges yesterday afternoon... Those midges were tiny, like a 20 or 22. So I used one of captains dry midge, but only caught one riser... I had a few come up and sniff it, but they wouldn't take it. What size was that fly Captain?

if you seen fish rising for midges you should have put on a rusty spinner, if i remember correctly it is a midge that has layed its eggs and died. i think i might try it out if they are rising on tuesday. but ill be with some peeps and will probably be using the old faithly wooly buggers.

I think that was a #20, The small gnat dry's seem to work pretty good. I had a nice hit on one late in the day when i was fishing that dropp of near the dry creek bed, May have been the one I was waitin for all day. Those little gnats are hard to see. The bait du nkers were out in force, Very funny to listen to people that think they know it all but really don't know crap. Oh and then up near the glory hole outlet we were fishing and bunch of morons came up with rafts, they put them in and paddled right in the spot we were fishing, Idiots were going to ride there skateboards in the glory hole. What can ya do, Just shake your head and move on. Not worth a confrentation. Although it was a little funny huh lilwhippersnapper.

Brian,
You almost had it.  A rusty spinner imitates a mayfly that has layed it's eggs and falls spent on the water's surface.

Yeah captain, that was hilarious. I was cracking up. I was laughing more on how stupid that guy looked in the raft pulling another raft behind him full of junk. I didn't care too much since I wasn't catching anything. It was pretty entertaining to me.

Sorry so late on the post I havent had access to my computer in a month. WT it was nice meeting you...On the 25 I had a great day 15 hook ups 10 to hand.....fly of the day was a #16 prince nymph and a 22 red disco midge... hooked a really nice 15+" bow and fought him for a bit....almost had him landed and he made one last run and bent the hook....I thought you guys were kidding about the bent hook thing but that #22 red midge couldnt hold him.

Had bait fishermen on either side of me with stringers full from red salmon eggs....I tell you it was killing me to see them throw half dead trout that have been on a stringer for an hour for a bigger one they just caught.....had more then a few belly up rainbows float past me from this....It kind of reminded me of the great plains buffalo hunts with hundreds of dead rotting buffalos littering the plains....a real shame....

actually that is very illegal, if they have a full stinger then thats it. they can keep fishing but have to let their catch go free. they can not switch fish out. it dont matter if the fish are very alive or very dead, once you have your limit that is it. so trading swaping or opps it got of the stringer. non of that. i cant stand it either. no respect for nature, and they are the first to bitch about how they cant bring there kids to places they used to fish as a kid, because its over fished and people are always keeping what they catch. Well hello you are doing the same thing you red neck trailer trash nature killin peice of sh-t.

sorry had to speak my mind
