Drug seven of my buddy's up to redding this weekend to get in on some of the egg bite action...I fished friday from posse grounds down to sac rv..Got rained on for half the day..First run of salmon is small this year...A lot of the trout have not moved up on the reds yet..their still hanging back in the deeper water...Went 30 for 36 and had a perfect day going till the second to last drift..Me and my friend JW put 49 fish in the net..Trout are not overly fat and lazy yet from all the eggs .."flygirl, you should be hitting it at its peak" Saturday a few of us decided to go down to Redbluff and see if any steelhead have made it into the system yet...The trout fishing is a bit slower but the trout are a lot bigger and more pissed off..I went 13 for 27 ..Ya thats right I dropped 14 fish..The average size of the rainbows are 16" on the lower half and they put on a battle ...they fight like mini steelie's....speaking of steelhead ...I got one 27" and jay jumped a 25" and he had it licked untill it found a snag on the bottom..Aaron had the beast of the day with a 29" fresh cromed hog.." he's not invited anymore" Sunday we straight up got our butts kick..the river shut down and the fish were wise to us..pounded the same water and I only had 10 fish...A few were juvinille ,clipped steehead... If you want to see a pic of the steelie and find out more about fishing the lower sac go to my freind's web site..... RJsflytrips.com check out the blogs......

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
The salmon diggin up the bugs sounds like a good theory, Hope it works out for us. Great trip MX19. I'll have to float the lower sac. someday, But since I don't have a drift boat YET, and I don't do the guide thang, it may be awhile unfortunetly. Brian I'm getting mixed reports on the amount of salmon in the river, One report said as of oct. 11th. dfg counted approx. 7 reddds, But like i told ya a local also reported to me that the river is full of em, sso we'll just have to see.
Yuba is fishing well right now...you dont have to fish the reds only....most of the fish are holding in water that is only 12" deep...caddis poopah, beads, hogans s&m,and wonder bras if you know who to get them from...No reports of steelies yet ...way to early in the year...some of the reds I saw are to far out to wade...10 fish in a day on the yuba is a very good day...good luck boys...stick it to them...they fight hard and look like little steelhead...
