It was a good afternoon out on the creek Saturday. I stopped outside access three at around 3pm and worked the pocket water up from there with a #18 BWO and a #22 midge pupae dropper. It was slow at first, hooked a nice 15-16" bow that shook me off almost instantly. Moved upstream a little and fished for a while with no action. Just as shadows started creeping over the water at around 5:30 or so all hell broke loose. I noticed a fish jump clear out of the water on the other side of the stream and at almost the same exact moment my indicator dipped and I had an 8" native on. Landed that and cast back out for another drift. This time as my drift finished and my rig was swinging through the faster current BAM! Another wild bow this time larger and more fiesty. After a short battle I landed that one, a 16" native with a beautiful hot pink stripe down the side. Two more casts and I had another small native on followed by a pig that hit at the top of the drift and proceeded to submarine it in a deep eddy next to me. I pulled hard to get his fat ass off the bottom and ended up popping the hook loose. Never saw him but he was a nice one. Caught one more small native on the next cast and then the action shut off again. It was as if a whole pod of fish just swam right up to where I was fishing and had a party for half an hour! I left soon after that because it was cold and I was going commando in my breathable waders (not a good idea!). I pretty much shook off the hypothermia on the hike back to the car and called it a good day. Didn't land any pigs but hooked into a bunch of fish so it was fun overall. The weather is spectacular out there right now so it is a good time to get out before the storms come and feel the last breaths of summer.
