Worked the creek from mid day till evening.I wanted to fish a spot so bad I broke my rod down and crawled under the bushes and made a tunnel about 25 ft long...I have fished it before but the flows were always a lot lower and I was able to wade to it.I new if I could get to it at a higher flow it would be epic.That is the word of the week right? hooked up to around 20 fish and landed almost everyone of them...When I left that spot I coverd my tunnel with some branches...hiked to another spot and set up on a rock and went at it.Once again I laid the smack down.Had another 20 or so fish.Lost a few more Of these ones.There were a few bigger ones that pulled out and some bad angling on my part.Two or the landed fish were over 20" Had 2 weird things happen today....1. I hooked a fish on a custom JW fly made just for me.That fish broke me off when it turned and ran.Caught a few more fish then moved down about 40 ft.Second or third drift kabam! fish on...landed that sucker and got my JW back.It was the same fish that broke me off....2. I was standing on a big rock and stuck a little 10"er and it took off and ran full speed head on into the rock I was standing on.It poped the hook out off its mouth and just floated there for a few seconds then slowly swam away. Flys I used were #18 blk JW, flash back PT bigger is better,#18 caddis poopah olive...Everything else I tried sucked....
the work EPIC and BIGGER IS BETTER, i have been hearing a lot lately, do you hear that lil whipper snapper, should be a good day on friday if the weather stays like it is

Do you catch poison oak
BTW history says that if you can't or dont want to go under it you can go over it. There just is a little low flow planning involved. Nice spot isn't it.

I do get poison oak.Not as bad as when I was a kid.I always wear long sleeves...Did you know the spot I was at.Theres no way anyone could see me from up or down stream.I was surrounded by a wall of bushes, trees and vines..

I do that too Captain I just don't catch any trout!!! If you ever see a guy fully equipped for fly fishing but seemingly lost amidst the blackberries and poison oak nowhere near a good fishing spot that is me so be sure to say hello! chuck

i prefer to us a sherman tank or r lots of bombardment to destroy a nice gappin long whole through that stuff, always got the trusty machete

Sounds like a great day MX19. I am definitely not opposed to crawling through the bushes! Must be a great spot for that kind of gymnastics...if I share some more cookies would you let me tag along throught the tunnel? I'll add extra chocolate chips!
hey fly girl..I wont get up to the creek till monday..thats my day to fish alone..i will let you and the cookies tag along..we have to get katie out again ..see what shes doing...I ve been fishing so much over the last couple weeks.I got drift trip next weekend .you going on vacation soon....if the flow drops to 200 then my spot will be to low and everyone will walk through it and push out the fish...
