Made it to the creek by 8:00 and started at #5. Had a nice fish on right off the bat on the second or third cast. It was about 14 inches and a wild fish. Hooked but did not land another from the same run a few casts later, same size possibly a little smaller. Moved up stream a little and caught another smaller planter. Moved up more and caught a whopping 8 inch wild fish. Ended up with 6 fish from total #5 in about 2 hours and 2 were planters and the biggest was the 14. Drove up to the bridge and scoped it out. I think I saw you there bonefish, is your license on your Audi Fish CA? I came down to the water and decided to bail to another spot since there were already about 10 people fishing the bridge area. Fished at #2 for just a little then headed home by noon. I think I may have seen Captains Volvo at #5 on my way out, was that you?

I use a 2 fly rig and had sucess on both patterns, never changed to different flies. Both are flies I tied myself, one was a size 20 tan mayfly emerger called an RS2 (it's a deadly fly, I use it everywhere. Do a search to see it). The other was a size 18 PT but tied on a scud hook using an olive colored pheasant tail, another killer pattern.

Ya , that was me. I fished there all day, differnt runs. My friend and I tied flies last night, and tied some really cool drunken zebra midges and prince nymphs. We used the flies all day , they worked killer. I got around 15 fish, the biggest was 16 inches. Really crowded. I saw a guy under the bridge catch a big rainbow, it looked around 3 , 3 1/2 pounds, 24 inces? NIce fish!

Yeah I fished #5 sunday from about 11 a.m to 3:30, No real consistant action to speak of, I think 5 fish landed on various patterns, a few more lost, and a few hits that were missed. Coped the best I could after a day of shooting some bigbore rifles all day saturday, feels like someone beat the hell out of my shoulder. Just trying to get in as much time on the water before I head up to the upper sac. and mccloud for 6 days in about a week. Average size of fish I hooked was only about 12 inches.

Bonefish - I was up there by the bridge in the morning but I didn't see you.  I fished the bridge and above the bridge with streamers - got about 15-20 planters.  Checked the parking lots - guess your car might have been behind someone else's.

Next time I guess.

I parked in the dirt lot on the left near the bridge,on the concrete landing. It was a super fun day. It was the first time I only used flies that I tied. Super fun. I am going to fish either Putah or The lower Stanislous(2 mile bar) on Saturday.

I fished right above the bridge on Tuesday and hooked ten fish between 10:00 and noon. All out of one little slot, all about 12 inches. I left after, what I would say would have been a nice fish, gave a huge tuge and took both my flies. I have been fishing a hares ear and a small zebra pattern, my last few trips to putah. Productive anyway, but nothing to boast about. Something happened to me that has only happened to me on larger river until Tuesday. I foul hooked to trout, almost back to back casts. Does anyone ever have that happen on Putah? Both fish got it right above the eyes, on the back. Anyway, may have been my last time fishing Putah, for a long while. I am heading back to the Northwest in a couple of weeks, were I will be chasing more steelhead than trout. Glad I found the forum and sorry I didn't get a chance to meet any of you, maybe another time. Putahs a great creek, good luck fishing.

Foul hooking is hooking a fish anywhere outside of the mouth. The fish is not legal to keep in California, should you choose to keep fish.

I have hooked a few in the tail and it really makes em hard to get in. I have done this many times salmon fishing.
